What are thread veins?

Thread veins are little blue, purple or red veins that are visible just underneath the skin on the face and body. Although harmless, thread veins can be very unsightly and they may make you feel self-conscious – particularly if they appear in exposed areas, such as the face or leg. That’s why sclerotherapy is becoming an increasingly popular option.

WHAT CAUSES THREAD VEINS ON THE FACE AND LEGS?

Although the exact cause is unknown, there could many reasons why they appear – such as hereditary factors, heat, alcohol and hormonal changes. These are all believed to be triggers for this skin condition, but that doesn’t mean that they cannot be treated.

WHAT IS INJECTED DURING SCLEROTHERAPY?

Sclerotherapy is a safe, non-surgical procedure which involves injecting a saline treatment directly into the vein. The treatment has been well practised and has evolved over the last 150 years to ensure the best possible results for those with thread veins.
